What is deregulation?

Prior to deregulation utilities had monopolies on the supply and sale of energy to the end user. Deregulated energy markets empower end users with the freedom to choose among competing electric and natural gas suppliers. Deregulation has fostered an environment of increased competition among suppliers that's resulted in energy cost reduction for commercial end users.

Does Summit Power Brokers offer energy cost reduction to residential customers?

No. Summit Power Brokers is licensed as a commercial energy broker only.

Will I still be a customer of my utility?

Yes. When you change suppliers the utility still maintains the infrastructure required to transport electricity and natural gas to your business. You will continue to receive a bill from the utility for the delivery charges of that energy. The supply portion of your bill will be updated to reflect the supplier and product that was chosen by your company.

What if the power goes out?

If you lose service the utility is responsible for restoring power to your business. The utility performs service calls based on the order they are received.

How long does it take to switch suppliers?

It typically takes between 1-2 billing cycles for the utility to coordinate the updated service with your new supplier.

Does Summit Power Brokers offer renewable energy?
